- Freeze dried Canadian Grade A Blueberries. All packed in re-sealable bag. Product of B.C. Nothing added. No sugar. No preservatives. None GMO. Nothing. Just BC grown blueberries, cleaned, sorted, IQF, freeze dried. HACCP certified.
- Crunchy! Properly stored, freeze-dried food offer a much longer shelf life, lower moisture content, and taste better than regular dehydrated (dried) foods and contain no preservatives, oil or any other additives. Freeze dried foods preserve all original nutrients and flavor intact. Absolutely nothing added, just blueberries.
- Freeze drying, also known as lyophilization or cryodesiccation, is a low temperature dehydration process that involves freezing the product, lowering pressure, then removing the ice by sublimation. Since all the water is removed, this makes freeze dried fruits excellent for hiking or camping where you do not want the added weight.
- Some blueberries WILL stain your fingers, just like the fresh ripe blueberries that are slightly bruised. During the IQF (instant quick freeze) & freeze drying process, fresh blueberries may get bruised, and that can result in a little blueberry juice on the outside of the berries.
- The ratio of fresh to dry? 10:1 ratio. This means it takes 10 pounds of fresh blueberries to make 1 pound of freeze dried. It’s important to keep the bag sealed tight after opening to keep the blueberries crispy and prevent moisture. We like to eat them straight out of the bag or you can use them in various baking recipes or even drop a few into iced tea or even cocktails.
